Meet Jade. She killed herself three days after making this video.. Teenage suicide accounts for 31,000 suicides a year in the U.S, making it the 3rd leading cause of suicide. Worldwide, nearly one million people commit suicide every year.. more than those murdered or killed in war. Think before you say something hurtful to someone else. It may look like they’re okay, but they’re not. Words are more powerful than you think. Repost this not just for Jade, but for every teenager who is going through what she went through. You can help save a life. And wasn’t she just fucking gorgeous?

what i really don’t understand is how people couldn’t tell this girl all of these positive things BEFORE she decided to take such drastic action as to end her own life.

i think what the really sad thing is, is that this young girl let the harsh and untrue words of people who she probably would have had nothing to do with in four more years, define her life. a lot of people think of suicide as the ultimate ‘fuck you’, but to me, it’s a form of surrender. it’s rolling over and saying ‘you win, i give up, i am every bad thing you’ve labelled me, i will never be anything more’. it’s a blaring white flag. i suppose i could preach the same cliché shit as everyone else in the world who’s been bullied, that i know how it feels and that i too wanted to kill myself at one point, but what difference does that make ? none. suicide doesn’t make you cool, it doesn’t make you a martyr, it doesn’t make you anything more than another statistic. you just become the subject of hushed conversations between mothers over lunches out, between kids in school hallways. you’re remembered as nothing more than the teenager who couldn’t find a way out and gave up.

honestly ? i think that carrying on with a brave face, standing tall and strong, and seeking help in the face of adversity is the best way to say a big ‘fuck you’ to everyone who tries to cripple you. i know i might not have done it well myself, but i’m so, so glad i never acted on the feelings that i was made to feel because of peoples words.

p.s. can someone please explain to me why the way she looks is relevant to any of this ? not so good looking people commit suicide as well, people from all walks of life do.
